Republicans v. Democrats

In reading the news about former President Bill Clinton's recent hospitalization, I was absolutely disgusted at the myriad nasty, uncouth, rude comments directed toward he, "liberals", "conservatives", Democrats and Republicans.

Aren't we the very people decrying our politicians for their negative ads, and personal attacks?
Yet, from what I can see, those sort of activities are nothing if not a direct reflection of the constituents of those politicians!

Is it any wonder that I, and many others, consider themselves 'independent' voters? Of course, now that we have the Independent party, we can not even call ourselves that without being lumped into yet ANOTHER political party.
So, for wont of better term, I guess I, and many others, are 'Non-Affiliated Voters'.
I am not a conservative, liberal, Republican, nor Democrat. I am an AMERICAN. Nay, that is not even PC to say these days... I am a United States Citizen Voter!

What does this mean?
It means I vote for what I believe in, not what some other group wishes to fold me into for a bloc vote. I vote for what I think is right. In my view, "right" does not mean a voting just because the party did, nor voting to further a party line, despite my reservations. It means voting my conscience, something so few politicians, and in fact, so few constituents APPEAR to have these days-from the comments they make toward each other. I do not say FAIL to have, as I don't know that I'm convinced of this quite yet, but I certainly say APPEAR to have (a lack of).

On this particular news site, I was greeted by a plethora of ill wishes for our former President, ugly comments and attacks directed toward he, and the most dreadful of remarks made toward any well wishers present. So, it would appear, if one is affiliated toward this party or that, that one must BE this or that ugly thing. Even further, that if one simply has the decency to wish someone well this is so.
I tell you this, it is frankly quite disgusting to read.
If you like something, or someone, you are open to the most dreadful, and frankly inane, comments. It is also true if you might dislike something or someone. Seldom, if ever, is seen any dialog offering any informed opinion, or a request of pertinent information in support of, or contrary to, any such opinion or comment.
In fact, the comments are rather akin to the current state of spelling, grammar, and editing on the internet these days-devoid of any indication of nominal intelligence.

Did I like Bill Clinton as a personality? I'm almost afraid to say yes. I found him curious, and entertaining.
Did I like Bill Clinton as our President? Unequivocally, yes. The morale of our country, and the climate of personal happiness among our citizens seemed, quite frankly, much higher than it did with his successor.
Did I like the untoward activities he engaged in while in office? Sex, with an intern, infidelity toward his wife? NO, most assuredly I did not. I also believe that such behavior speaks volumes about a persons' integrity, and fidelity, as a whole.
However, I must request that you PROVE to me that his behavior was significantly different than any other politician. I really find it hard to believe, quite frankly.

Further, I challenge anyone to explain to me how this behavior is different than President George Bush, Jr.'s behavior in invading Iraq under the guise of WMD. There were none.
Nor did our invasion of Iraq have anything whatsoever to do with 9/11, despite the seemingly overwhelming amount of ill informed 'folk' who sing that song from the highest mountains, and quietest dells of our country.
In fact, I am absolutely astounded every single time I read or hear about how GWB invaded Iraq "'Cuz them thar furriners attacked ar towers!". Come now, are you truly serious?

No, I did not care for GWB, not as a person, nor as a President. Does that make me a Liberal, or some such other thing that might be said of me with the intention to be a slur? No, it does not.
What it makes me is a citizen, with a right to my own thoughts, opinions, likes and dislikes. A citizen of a purportedly free country, who is, purportedly, entitled to his own personal opinion(s).

My opinion of GWB?
Hmm-he definitely lied to us in reference to the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Necessarily, this amounts to a lie about why we went to war, and a violation of the law in doing so.
In that case, we get to be play Monica Lewinsky to his Bill Clinton. Or are we Hillary? I'll let you decide, but in any event, we are either one or the other.
Enron? Environment? DHS? Abuses of Executive Privilege?
Depictions of GWB as a cowboy? Really? No, I dare say the depiction should be that of a schoolyard bully.
And the country was NOT happy. Its' citizenry was indeed miserable; as evidenced by his popularity rating in the poles.
All of this not from a "Liberal Commie Pinko" etc., etc.-but from a definitely Non Affiliated Voter-NAV.

And I did like Ronald Reagan as a personality, if nothing else.

However, were GWB to be hospitalized for heart problems, or health problems of any other kind, I WOULD wish him a speedy recovery and good health. I would NOT wish ill upon him, even if simply a matter of self respect, much less respect for GWB, a former President, his family, or any other random person out there.
To do otherwise is simply, and purely UNCOUTH-an insult to our nation and her citizens.
